Pet Food Labeling Modernization Workgroup 1 Nutritional Adequacy and Feeding Directions – Draft revisions to PF7 2 3 NUTRITIONAL ADEQUACY GRAPHIC – PF7 4 PF7 (a) through (d) – No change 5 (e) Dog and cat foods, including treats, snacks and supplements, shall include a graphic representation of 6 nutritional adequacy or purpose of the product. The graphic representation shall meet the following: 7 (1) It shall be displayed in an unobstructed, conspicuous manner on lower right quadrant of the 8 principal display panel with text oriented parallel to the base and on the alternate principal display 9 panel with text oriented parallel to the base, should one exist; and, it shall be consistent with the 10 intended use of the product indicated in the nutritional adequacy statement or elsewhere on the 11 label. 12 13 (A) For complete & balanced products, including snacks and treats, that meet the 14 requirements of PF7 (a) or (b) it shall consist of the circle below appropriate for the 15 intended species, life stage, and size. 16 17 i. “All Size Dogs” if product has been formulated to meet the levels of nutrients specifically 18 referenced in the Dog Food Nutrient Profiles as being applicable to large size growing 19 dogs. 20 21 ii. “Small & Medium Size Dogs” if the product has not been formulated to meet the levels 22 of nutrients specifically referenced in the Dog Food Nutrient Profiles as being applicable 23 to large size growing dogs. 24 The minimum diameter of the entire circle shall be as follows: 25 Panel Size Minimum Diameter of Circle </= 5 in. 2 ½ in. >5 in. 2 - </=25 in. 2 ¾ in. >25 in. 2 - </=100 in. 2 1 in. >100 in. 2 - </=400 in. 2 1 ¾ in. >400 in. 2 2 in. 26 The graphic shall be obtained from the AAFCO website.
